“Christmas, my child, is love in action." -Dale Evans

It's been a while in which I have visited my blog. I've been busy. but need to get back into the swing of things. It takes indurance, passion and that constant pull to express myself.

Many things have changed in our world causing discord and bad decisions. This current situation is affecting all of us. It is affecting our youth into making bad decisions that can't be reversed. I hope that they realize that bad intentions can be corrected by filling the void with kindness and corrective actions.

It is up to us as adults to nurture the youth. Teach them by doing good yourselves. Love our youth. This is the perfect season to begin this corrective measure. Our world is perfect only with our help.

Reflect on the beauty of nature and the peace found in simple things around us. Stop and breathe. Take it all in. Look towards the sky, a babbling brook, the leaves falling, a soft snow flurry, a bird chirping. So much natural peace around us, can be taken in to relieve our stressful day.

Take your lunch outdoors, in your car, at a park. Of course, we need to be and keep safe. You know to survey your surroundings and lock your doors. Our world around us is not safe any longer but that should not stop us from enjoying God's creations.

Until the next post...

Peace and many, many blessings to all this wonderful Season of Love.

August Lottery ATC for ATC_Fun

Claude Monet Quote

The card is from a recycled Taco Bell box. A piece of deli paper was glued on to mute the printed box. I went through my scrap bin pulling out interesting pieces and gluing the on to the ATC. I had the quote printed and drew my sparrow. I colored him with my watercolored pencils and blotted it so it would not be too vibrant.
An orange watercolor was applied around the sparrow which created a bit of a 'mohawk' affect that was seen by one of my artist friends on ATC_Fun. I thought this was a great oops!
I enjoyed getting back into my studio room. Will be doing it much more often.

Good Times

Good Times

ATC_Fun, Yahoo Group's June Lottery for 2015 is a 'Nautical' theme. This is my creation. Everyone who puts in an entry is eligible to win them all.

I really enjoyed working on this one. I did the background one day and came back to it today to finish it with the focal point.

March Madness ATC Lottery

Rabbit in a Hat Coming Out of an EGG

Nothing like last minute creations! I couldn't think of anything until today...the last day to place something in the lottery! The thing is, it was MY lottery topic cause I won last month! Everyone was popping in with great ideas.

The cracked egg is from a Gelli print. Background is from a Taco Bell box with deli paper and gesso on it. The pink on the ears is tissue paper...the glasses are Stickles.

Valentine Card to my Granddaughter...

Be My Valentine Kiara...

...As it reads on the inside. With a special note that her Grandmama loves her. The pocket is full of foam hearts with sticky backs that she can use and other little notes on hearts like the candy ones.

The darker pink heart over the pocket is hand cut from an excess paint wipey. The other one is also hand cut from a Gelli Plate print I did.

Her name is popped up in the center. As is the two pink hearts 'Cutie' and 'Love U'. the other two hearts behind are stenciled on and say 'Love' and 'Kiss me'.

Holidays and Toy Trains

Toy Train

With the holidays upon us, I find myself busy, completing tasks and not knowing they were complete until I go back to do them. Too much on my mind...need to remember to breathe and step back to see all the Magic of Christmas!

Speaking of Christmas Magic...Last night I was thrilled seeing some new lite Christmas decorations in a neighborhood while dropping off one of my son's friends that I missed his street! Ahahahahaha! We all had a wonderful laugh! It was great to hear teen boys laugh!

This ATC was created for the ATC_Fun(Yahoo group)'s Lottery for December 2014: Travel.

I thought I still had to work on this ATC but it was waiting to be trimmed only after the glitter dried! I was however behind in the two homemade Christmas cards for my Grandchildren. Hope to finish the last one today to drop it off at the Post Office ASAP!

May you all have a wonderful and safe holiday...Merry Christmas to those that celebrate!

Friday Morning Sketch 12/12/2014

Untitled
~Charcoal on newsprint

I'm missing something. Well, it feels like I am. I haven't been able to hide in my studio to actually sketch 'out of the blue'. It seems that I've been stuck on collaging, postcards and ATC's. I really can't think of anything in a messy studio. So I stepped out...on a small table with just some rolled up newsprint I had from one of my classes, a charcoal pencil, my kneaded eraser and my favorite tool...my fingers.

Flowers with petals have been one of my favorite to draw or include in my artwork. It keeps my memory attached to the warmth of spring and summer days. The SUNFLOWER...

My fingers are cold, and my lap needing a blanket...If I was alone, I'd pack up and leave for warmer climate...with just a small suitcase of necessary art supplies. Yeah-yeah-yeah! Who am I kidding?!?! I'm a chicken! My name says it all...Nydia...'child of the nest'...I'd have to pack my nest too! Ahahahaha!

I love my family and could never leave their side! I would have to beg for them to accompany me!

Hoping everyone's holidays are sweet for them...Merry Christmas everyone!
